I hope everyone has been well. I was awfully ill last week, and before that things were such that I haven't been able to go properly into lj, ij, jf and dw for a long time. The end result is that my email accounts are a mess and I daren't dnld mails to outlook express till I clean them up online first. I'll be doing that from afternoon today. A really nasty heatstroke and dehydration doesn't make for a quick and coherent brain :{

I was considering taking an Air France related line when I travel next.
But I won't.
I will also discourage family, friends and anyone else I know who look like subcontinental Asians from doing the same.
Because I know what is racism and what isn't, even if people/conglomerates-of-people accused of it deny and explain everything away oh-so-plausibly.

The current coolness is welcome, though ... I don't know how long it will be around ... ...

There's one Durga Puja going on near home and yesterday, in the morning, according to the announcement I could hear, someone had run off with the flowers needed for worship and was being exhorted over a microphone to return with the flowers as soon as possible.
I made lasagna yesterday. For the first time. And it was Good ! Even though I used fresh pasta sheets I made and not the shop bought stuff (couldn't be bothered to go and search) ! WHEEEE !! And guess who taught me to make lasagna ---lina_thegreat ! She whips up a mean lasagna YumSlurrp ! :)

But how about the way people seem to perceive me ? How about the widespread assumptions I feel around me that states 'women have dignity and intelligence only if donated by men' ? Well, I don't think it's a good idea for anyone to try this on me. I may seem to look nice, and sweet (BLERRGH !) but I'm not nice or sweet. And I really can do pretty nasty things if I put my mind to doing things like that.
I am still trying not to do such things, of course. But at the mo', it's rather a precariously positioned choice.

Right, then. Greenpeace. One of their fund-raising parties stopped me yesterday on the street and began giving me this spiel about Olive Ridleys and global warming.
All very well, I suppose, but when I asked what were they doing about the one-horned Rhinoceros (and other animals) in Kaziranga and Manas (and other smaller protected places close to these reserves) getting drowned in the current floods, all that fellow mumbled was ‘We have our specified projects.’

I just can't concentrate enough into the f-pages. There's this rl-thing which has to be resolved, tied-up, and finished with before I can re-concentrate into the f-pages ... I've hoped (and still hope) I could distract myself by reading and commenting, but --- I can't even bloody begin to concentrate with a mind full of the thousands of little things I must do till the end of next month.
Damn.
And I've re-hurt my right knee and left ankle. It's official --- I'm a genius. Only a genius could hurt the right knee and the left ankle together.
Nevertheless, I am going out today. And I don't care if I hobble.

Yesterday passed in a very strange way. I hadn’t gone out because apparently the city was entirely awash (I hear it still is). And then, the power was switched off at around 10-ish (because the waters were reaching up to something or other in the electricity way), and was restored back around 7-ish today --- so, an outage of 21 hours, which was mostly spent trying to save food-stuff (Thank Gods for gas-cooking---enabled).
Exhausting, but results were satisfactory.
Now the only thing is to think of things to do with the food … *Ponders*
The great emergency is that now I’m on my last cigarette-pack, and I need to buy more, and I need to wade through that … that horrible water to buy more. I’m putting it off as long as I can *pushes away evil moment for time being* as my Wellies are old-ish and beginning to leak a little water in. *Looks out and sees duckweed (Lemna sps.) floating around*

It rained perfectly, gently, and off and on. It's lovely and cool now.
The lunch out was absolutely marvellous - Garlic Naan and Haandi Mutton, both quite utterly superlative, followed by Butterscotch Icecream. I think I might be trying the single malt there next time I go.
I am still feeling happily fed. And drowsy, but not uncomfortably sleepy.
